KCFR ignominiously announces the return of Best Bets!

Okay football fans, I know the 2007 edition of Best Bets barely achieved a .500 record.
In fact, the entire schedule of KCFR lined games had a better record ATS, go figure.
This season finds a new rule in place: Any team which is a BB pick then loses shall be barred
from being a BB pick the next week, no matter what the numbers say.
Also, I have whittled down the number of BB picks, from 12 or more down to about 3 or 4
each week. I would like to concentrate on the best of the best, and avoid repeating teams.

In the past, any line that was 9 or more points different from KCFR was used as a Best Bet.
We shall be a little more discerning this season.
Also, check out Prediction Results page for KCFR's prediction performance for each team.
As always, KCFR is not responsible for any information or misinformation which results in
monetary losses or personal embarrassment, so there.

Best Bets record to date: 13-8-2

Week One results:
FIU @ Kansas(-36.5): pick KU = LOST. J-hawks in sleepwalk instead of cakewalk.
Ohio @ Wyoming(-10): pick UW = LOST. Cowpokes just win in defensive struggle.
UTEP @ Buffalo(-3): pick UB = WON. Look for Bulls to further impress this year.
WKU @ Indiana(-21): pick WKU = WON. Toppers beat spread by 3, thank you.

Week Two results:
Ohio U @ Ohio State(-34): pick OSU = LOST. You were smart to go with Ohio U weren't you?
Miami @ Florida(-21): pick UF = WON. Gators are my No.1, and not just because were only BB win.
Ole Miss @ Wake Forest(-7.5): pick WF = LOST. Again right team wins but barely. Give Ole Miss credit.
UAB @ Fla Atlantic(-13.5): pick FAU = WON. Whew, another BB win under the wire thanks to hapless Blazers.

Week Three results:
Stanford @ TCU(-12.5): pick TCU = WON. Frogs are 2-0 ATS so far. Next victim SMU?
SMU @ Texas Tech(-36): pick Tech = PUSH. Did anyone find a 35.5 line? I say Tech is sandbagging.
UCLA @ BYU(-8.5): pick BYU = WON. KCFR told ya it wouldn't be close, but geez!
Nevada @ Missouri(-26): pick UNR = LOST. Looking like last season's late No. 1 ranking no fluke for Mizzou.

Week Four results:
Notre Dame @ Michigan St(-8.5): pick MSU = WON. Spartans won by 16 showing good 4th qtr mettle.
Arizona(-2.5) @ UCLA: pick Zona = WON. Do you dare bet against the Bruins 3rd game in a row? YESSSS!
So Florida(-30) @ Fla Int'l: pick USF = LOST. USF close win again, team hurting & KCFR over-rated.
New Mexico @ Tulsa(-10.5): pick NM = LOST. Dang, I almost had Florida in this spot. Can't figure Lobos.

Week Five results:
Illinois @ Penn St(-14): pick PSU = PUSH! Great game but couldn't they get the ball to Williams one more time?
UAB @ South Carolina(-24): pick SC = LOST. From now on we're not even giving Gamecocks the time of day.
USC(-25) @ Oregon State. I almost posted this one as KCFR had USC by 12, and actually had OSU
to win SU in 2006, but had underrated USC in their two games this year. Sheesh.

Week Six results: SWEEP!
Hawaii @ Fresno St(-22): pick Hawaii = WIN. KCFR said close game & VOILA! UH wins in OT.
Texas A&M @ Okla St(-24): pick OSU = WIN. 24 pts a lot to give but confident Cowboys cover!
Penn St(-12.5) @ Purdue: pick PSU = WIN. Lions cover, they barely cover, the lion sleeps tonite...
San Diego St @ TCU(-24.5): pick TCU = WIN. Frogs leap past Aztecs with room to spare.
Cincinnati(-3.5) @ Marshall: pick UC = WIN. Start of a good weekend thanks to Bearkats.

Week Seven picks:
La-Monroe @ Arkansas St(-11.5): pick ASU. Last week ULM allowed 5 runs of 50+ yds vs rival ULL.
526 yds RUSH TOTAL. Wolves top 6 rushers avg 5+ yds per carry. Could be uglier, ASU wins by 33!
Louisiana Tech @ Hawaii(-7.5): pick UH. Only 1 TD favorite at home? Hawaii wins at Fresno while
LT barely showed at Boise. Even longer trip this time. Tech QB 40% passer. Hawaii by 11.
Wash St @ Oregon St(-30): pick OSU. Beavs almost won at Utah, beat USC. WSU down to 3rd QB
and are demoralized. Crazy to give 30 pts but OSU has it goin, barring a letdown, win by 53.
Ball St(-16.5) @ Western Ky: pick Ball. WKU was fresher in ATS win at Indiana but better teams
have beaten them down. Unbeaten Ball is on a roll, rally on with Love lost. BSU wins by 30.
Penn St(-5) @ Wisconsin: pick PSU. Taking the Lions 3rd time in a row is stretching our luck,
but KCFR feels that State hasn't played with much emotion yet. Badgers must be deflated by
now with 2 tough conf losses. PSU by 21.
