Coffman - Winter of 2006 Page
The winter of 2005-2006 started off great, with a lot of early
cold. In fact Kerry was able to ice climb twice (once in the Daks
and once in the Catskills) AND even got a day of skiing (in the
Poconos) all in December of '05. Things were looking great.
Then an obscene warm spell hit in January that lasted most of the
winter. Fortunately, the Daks was one of the few places in the
East that had decent/climbable ice so Kerry was able to get in several
more nice ice
climbing trips .
Kari ran winter track for the first time and did great (finishing 5th
in the 800m at the Counties). We also managed to get into the
City to see several Broadway plays. Below you can see a shot of
the HS winter track team, Kari and Becky after we saw "Phantom of the
Opera", along with a shot of Tom and Kari when we went into NYC to see
"Wicked" (which is a GREAT play).

As mentioned earlier, we did have a wee bit of cold weather. Here
is a picture of Kerry (in December of 05) skiing at Shawnee (in the
Poconos, Pennsylvania) along with a shot of the house during the
blizzard that hit in late February '06.

For some of us (i.e., Kari) the highlight of the winter may have been
the Billy Joel concert in Madison Square Garden. Kerry, Kari and
Natalie (one of Kari's
friends) went into the City to see the concert. To make a long
story short we were "upgraded" to FRONT ROW sits (3 seats to the left
of dead center)!!!
Amazing!!! Kari got to shake Billy's hand and it was an incredible
concert!!! Below are a couple of pictures of Billy Joel from that
night.
