A It looks like right now that the NHL is a long shot, but Independence is supposed to be getting a CHL team in a couple of years.
A I don't have the exact figure on that, I'm still sifting through old newspaper articles for that information. I believe it was probably somewhere between 5,000 and 6,000.
A The Blades folded because the International Hockey League folded. The Blades could not be picked up as an expansion team by the American Hockey League, because they had a rule that owners could own only one team. The Blades owner Dan DeVos already had Grand Rapids and chose to take that team into the AHL.
A This is probably a case of getting too big for your britches. The league had tried to challenge the NHL by expanding into their cities (Detroit, Chicago). The NHL and AHL decided to work together, meaning that every NHL team would be affiliated with an AHL team, thus terminating any possible NHL affiliations for IHL teams. The IHL also was experiencing some financial problems that forced it to officially cease operations in October of 2001.
A I have a page entitled Where Are They Now?, it tells what teams former Blades are playing for. I don't have knowledge of where every former player is, but I try to at least keep up to date with the ones that are still playing professionally.
A I do not have pictures of every Blades player (I'm still looking for pictures for a lot of them). I do have pictures on most of the player pages, as well as a Gallery. I still have tons of other pictures, that I hope to post eventually. If you are looking for someone specific, let me know, and I'll get back to you.
A Rick Barkovich, Gary Emmons, Dan Ratushny, Iain Fraser, Jon Rohloff, Josh Holden
