Section 8 — Training Classes


EPCRA 42 USC §11003(c)(8) reads:

Training programs, including schedules for emergency response and medical personnel.


Training and education is a continuous process. In order to ensure that our community is receiving the highest level of service, we must continue to improve performance standards. The cycle of excellence begins with being prepared and having adequate training.

Local:

The DeKalb County LEPC regularly facilitates training for First Responders and Emergency Personnel, as well as for personnel of regulated facilities. In most cases, interested members of the public may also attend, provided they notify the LEPC in advance so there will be adequate seating.

American Red Cross:

The American Red Cross (ARC) is one of the nation's largest independent disaster relief agencies. By Congressional charter and mandate, it is the primary agency responsible for sheltering and feeding in the event of disasters. It also regularly provides training courses in first aid and CPR, and in topics related to diaster management.

Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA):

IEMA also provides training classes in Illinois.

Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA)

FEMA's Emergency Management Institute (EMI) has many courses dealing with Emergency Management. They are available to Emergency Management professionals.

Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA):

OSHA is the federal agency responsible for worker safety.

Illinois Fire Service Institute (IFSI):

IFSI provides certification for Fire Fighters in Illinois.
