Changing the cartridge on
BSR magnetic cartridge equipped turntables
(without sliding cartridge clips)

Note;  The following applies to almost ALL of the BSR equipped
compact all in one stereo units which used the flat headshell.
This does NOT apply to the BSR turntables which were equipped
with the "slim line" headshell, which used only Tetrad ceramic cartridges.

              READY?

O.K.!
You will need;
Needle nose pliers,  a small(#0 or 1)phillips screwdriver,
A small blade screwdriver, a small fine file, a hobby knife.

(1) on the tonearm headshell, you will notice a sticker.
With the hobby knife, gently pry the sticker up.
This will expose the cartridge pad mounting screw.

(2) With the needle nose pliers, GENTLY remove the
four clip attatched wires from the rear of the cartridge.

(3) With the small phillips screwdriver, unfasten the screw
which was exposed when you removed the sticker.
The cartridge and mounting pad will now drop off.

(4) Loosen the two screws holding the cartridge to the mounting pad,
remove the old cartridge from the mounting pad.
If the old screws are long enough, attatch the new cartridge with
the existing screws, if not,  use the replacements included with the
cart.
Note that there are two sets of holes on the pad,
only one of them will be the correct width for your new cartridge.
If, after mounting the cart to the pad, the screws protrude below flush
with the bottom of the pad, file it smooth.

(5)Re-attatch the wires as follows;
Red= R
Green= RG
White= L
Black(or blue)= LG

(6)re-attatch the assembly with the small phillips screw,
replace the sticker.

(7) the stylus pressure is adjusted by the knob at the base of
the tonearm. The pressure should not exceed 3.5 grams.
Without a scale, just place the arm on a record.
You should see the needle depress slightly.
It should never touch the plastic part to the record.
If the pressure is too light, the arm will not travel to the center
of the record and actuate the arm return mechanism.
If the pressure is too heavy, the arm will push the needle
down too far and the plastic part of the needle will scrape.

           You're Done!
