I found a little kitten,
My Mom said, “She’s a stray.”
I asked, “Mom, can I keep her?”
My Mom said, “For today.”
The kitty came to bed with me,
We had a pillow fight.
I asked, “Mom, can I keep her?”
My Mom said, “For tonight.”
The kitty chased me ‘round the house.
We both played hide and seek,
I asked, “Mom, can I keep her?”
My Mom said, “For the week.”
The kitty found a ball of yarn,
We shared our woolly toy,
I asked, “Mom, can I keep her?”
My Mom said, “She’s a joy.”
“I guess she has no family,
I think we should endeavour,
To keep her safe and warm and loved,
Let’s keep her, Son...
...Forever.”
