( He is the father of the girl I live with)
One evening, the girl I live with said she was going to take me to school with her the next morning. She said that was because it was going to be show and tell day in her third grade classroom. I had never been to school with her before, and although I was a little apprehensive, I hoped it would be fun. She said I would have to stay all day with her, so I would have to be on my best behavior. I promised I would be good, and decided to go to sleep early so I would have plenty of time the next morning for proper grooming and other necessary preparations.
The next morning, when we were both ready we went to school. I patiently waited in my carrier while the small humans all got settled in their seats. When the show and tell part started, I was let out of my carrier, and my girl showed me to the class, and explained how she had found me when I was really little, and was able to keep me. She described how hard she worked to make me feel at home, and took me all kinds of places. She told how when I was little, she started putting a harness over my shoulders so I could be outside on a long rope, and would be safe and not wander off and get lost. She told how much I liked to go in the box on wheels with the rest of the family for those weekends in the woods. All the small people were then allowed to hold me for a bit and pet me. I purred as loud as I could to show how pleased I was.
I then sat on my girl's desk and watched the rest of the show and tell. I was not allowed to chase the little animals some of the small humans had brought, but that was all right, since I was trying very hard to behave well. Show and tell took all morning, so we then all had lunch. I discovered that my girl had already prepared a litter box for me in a private area of the classroom, and there were food and water bowls nearby for me. After lunch, my girl showed me a cupboard with the door open and a nice blanket inside, along with some of my favorite toys. It had been fixed just for me, so I would be comfortable the rest of the day. When the school day was over, all the rest of the little people left before we did. As they were leaving, they all said how much they had enjoyed having me in the classroom that day, then they each said, "good afternoon, Mrs. -----.
You see, the girl I live with who took me to her classroom that day is the teacher.
