Most Out Island resorts feature access to the abundant marine wildlife on their
island. In keeping with an implicit or explicit escape theme, they frequently
also feature no telephones or TV's in the rooms, limited
Internet access, and little or no cell phone service. Bluff House too features
these attributes of an escape experience. In addition, Bluff House offers the
romance and vistas available on 12 acres located on the highest point on the
island.
Out
Island resorts also have, or have access to, a beach. Buff House has their own
secluded and private pink sand beach. There are also several running
or hiking routes on the resort. One starts at the Jolly Roger Bar and Bistro (named
for the owner, Roger Phillips), then it goes up the hill
to the ala carte dining area, down the golf cart path to the water
maker and the old snack bar, then down the half mile long Bluff House beach and back,
up one of two paths back up the hill, and finally back to the Jolly Roger. Add a
detour down to Katy's Split Level Suites and up the network of stairs and walkways
back to the ala carte dining area for a scenic morning challenge.
In the evening the challenge is to get back to the hilltop solarium deck in time to watch
the sunset over the Sea of Abaco.

candlelight and
fine Caribbean and US cuisine, and the Jolly Roger which is informal with island
favorites including burgers.
Almost every Out Island resort has a pool. Bluff House
features a fresh-water pool next to the Jolly Rodger, a favorite with everyone
for supervised swimming for the little ones, and sunning and
libations.
Every Out Island resort also
has a bar--Bluff House offers two. One adjoins the ala carte dining room on
top of the bluff, and is open in the evenings for before-dinner
libations. The other bar is at the marina and part of Jolly Rodger.
Next
to the Jolly Roger is Bluff House's unique island boutique featuring original
ceramics by talented Nicole Jelbert. Susan Phillips, the proprietor, searches far and
wide to provide the most unusual in island gifts including women's fashions and
jewelry.
In
fairness, there are many excellent resorts in the Bahamas. But most visitors say Bluff
House's unique combination of barefoot resort amenities and vistas, plus its immersion in unspoiled Out-Island nature, combine to make Bluff
House a distinctive Bahamas experience.
