My Amateur Radio Station

     My ham radio station consists of a Yaesu FT-1000D transceiver driving an Ameritron AL-1200 amplifier.  My primary interest in ham radio is participating in international competitions, in which the objective is to contact as many other stations as possible, in as many different countries as possible, during a defined time period, which is usually the 48 hours of a weekend.

     I am a life member of the American Radio Relay League (ARRL), which is the national association representing amateur radio, and I am an active member of the Frankford Radio Club (FRC), which is the premier contest club in the world.

     I have two steel towers (Rohn 25) in the back yard:

TOWER #1 - 65 feet

  • 4 Element, wide-spaced 10M yagi @ 70', rotatable

  • 2 Element short 40M yagi @ 65', rotatable

  • 160M inverted vee @ 60'

TOWER #2 - 65 feet

  • Hy-Gain TH7-DXX triband yagi @ 65', rotatable

  • 80M dipole @ 60'
