Beijing Trip November 2002

In November 2002, Chris and I took a tour to Beijing.  It was our first guided tour, and although it was a bit of a caricature of tours we had a marvelous time.  Our hotel was very modern and comfortable, and our tour guides were very helpful and informative.  We visited the Forbidden City, the Summer Palace, a Hutong Village, Tienanmen Square, a silk factory, a cloisonné factory, a jade factory, an acrobat school, the Great Wall and the Peking Opera.  We also shopped at a department store and at Silk Alley, which is a huge flea market.  Beneath our hotel was a large upscale shopping center that we frequented during the evening hours.
