Antigua Trip February 2004

Here are some pictures from our trip to Antigua in February 2004.  Brother Peter (K3ZM) and I operated V26DX from the Royal Antiguan Hotel in the ARRL DX CW contest.  We made 4,100 contacts over the weekend.  We also had a little time for sightseeing.  Although the hotel interior was getting a little long in the tooth, our balcony (and the roof) offered some spectacular views.  Chris particularly enjoyed sitting on the balcony and watching the cruise ships slide by into and out of port.  Unfortunately, new hotel management denied permission for future radio operations from the hotel.
This was also the trip that got our visits to Montserrat started.  After the contest weekend we took a day trip to Montserrat on the ferry.  The ride over was wonderful.  Our bus tour of the island was fantastic and very educational.  It was hosted by 'Slim', who had fascinating stories to tell of his surviving the volcano eruption.  I puked my guts out on the ferry ride back to Antigua.  It was the longest 45 minutes of my life.  Can you spell Dramamine?
