| The Salmon season on Siltcoos was off to a slow start because of lack of rain into the lake.Soon the fall rains and colder temps will flush it out and the fishing should be great peaking around Thanksgiving,Try a red hotshot in smaller sizes it will work,,,FISH ON!!!!!!! ><> .It is one of the most unique fisheries on the west coast.6000 Salmon enter the lake yearly and average size for an adult fish is 7 to 15 lbs. with 25lbs.-5 1/2ozs. being the state record caught in 1966.I believe a new state record there is possible ,as last year a 22lb.coho was caught and weighed on offical scales just in case..><> ************************************************* Food for thought:The ratio of fishing to catching is directly porportioned to your skill level, persistance, processing of advice and luck!!! ***************************************************** FYI- A 16 in. Yellow perch would weigh approx.2-1/2 lbs.An 8 in. weighs 1/4 lbs. and At 12 in. it would weigh in at 1 lb.><> ***************************************************** Believe it or not!!!I spotted a white sturgeon close to 7 ft. in length surface 30 ft. from where I was anchored. Also I caught two nice flounder 15 in. long that made their way from the ocean over the fish ladders, and up the Siltcoos River into the lake. They took a worm fished on the bottom drifting .><> |
