PRACTICE RIDE -- June 16, 8:00 - 1:00 somewhere in Boulder County

Participate in a simulated, ten-mile NATRC ride, paced appropriate to novice riders.

  • Clinic riders will be paired with experienced NATRC riders who will demonstrate, instruct and encourage participants though the practice ride.
  • Learn how to get your horse through basic “obstacles” such as water, bridges, downed timber, rocks, and up and down hills with a minimum of effort.
  • Observe and (practice if you wish) the horse examination, and in-hand presentation for the judge; trailer safety check.
  • Horses need to be trained well enough for good control on the trail and be capable of being ridden around horses safely.
  • Refreshments provided, AM and PM.

I will do this clinic whenever enough people (10 or more) are interested and can agree on a date. I am also willing, eager, to do this clinic in other areas, if someone will be the host.

COST: $25, proceeds will go towards scholarships to the Golden Gate NATRC Ride (September) with priority to clinic participants.

I have been a member of NATRC since 1983 and have competed in more than 60 NATRC rides with three different horses for a total of more than 4,000 miles. For the 1999 season Raj and I finished First in the Rocky Mountain Region (Region III), Seventh in the Nation and earned my National Championship. I have been a member of the Region III Board and was Region III President in 1985. I established a NATRC ride at Golden Gate Canon and have been the ride manager five times. This is the 14 edition of the clinic.

This clinic has proven useful to endurance riders and pleasure trail riders, as well as those who are considering doing competitive trail rides.
