June 2009 Update

Arrived in Louisville, KY around 4:30PM, set up the camper (got very hot).   My truck thermometer showed 91 -95 degrees on the trip up here, even at 10:30AM this morning.

Campground is apparently full of SBC attendees.  We met Gene, who is camping next to us and talked with him for awhile.  He pastors a church in Oklahoma.

Will be leaving for Cincinnati, OH about 10:30AM in the morning for the Reds baseball game with the Chicago White Sox.  We'll probably melt there too, or at least James will, Brenda likes it.

We wish all you Fathers a wonderful day tomorrow.   I have already had a great day.   I spoon fed my mother 1/2 bottle of 'ensure' yesterday, relieving my father for a short while.   He has been a wonderful Christian example for me throughout my life.   I'm proud to say he is my father and give a a big hug. (yep, I'm 64 years and 11 months old and I love giving my father of 84 years age a big hug and tell him I love him.)    Give it a try if you haven't done it.  You'll like it too.  It isn't a sign of weakness but rather a sign of strength and love.

Drove 2 hours to Cincinnati, OH for baseball game.  Got a gift when entering the stadium - a tie as a father's day gift, I'll have to wear when we get home..  Good seats but out in the open, sun was directly above us.  After about an hour, we went to get a bite to eat and moved up into the nose bleed section so we could be in the shade - James really appreciated that - and we both enjoyed the remainder of the game.  White Sox won 4 to 1.   Brenda said I "melted for love" - I guess you could say that since I do truly love her.  Here a few shots we took.

Today we served our 2 hour time in the North American Mission Board's exhibit at the Southern Baptist Convention.   The campground where we are staying is across the Ohio river in Indiana, but it is only about 7 miles to the convention center.   Traffic was at a stand still when we got to the on ramp but it finally moved and we were on our way.  When we got to the convention center, parked, and walked a pretty good distance to the exhibit hall, guess who was there?  Yep, our Staff - Bro. Morgan, Charles, Jeff, Russ and Michael.   Jeff was having a bad day, he had Kristy's name badge on which he wrote his name on the back and he had Angela Price's voting card....  So, Brenda and I can attest to their actually being at the convention (ha ha).   While we were serving our time there, we saw Bro. Ed Cruce, our DOM, Bro. Barry and Cathy Cosper, Mike Jackson, our supervisor on the state staff, and others that we have met in different areas of the state and country.

We had an  interesting conversation with a fellow MSCer who serves in the Utah/Idaho convention who was serving during our time too.   They do what is called 'Cowboy' Churches - in the real sense.  They have pastors who actually ride horseback out in to the range land and the cowboys tending the herds come and have church with them.  There was a video playing that showed that ministry  with snow still on the ground in April.

We also learned a new name for the area - "Kentuckiana"   a combination of Kentucky and Indiana. They use it in their news programs and in advertising.
