I have a beautiful family. Take a look.

I recently retired. I had a very rich and enjoyable career in meteorology.

I have many interests. Most prominent are:

My most intense interest is genealogy. In particular I am working on the Young family that started in Jamestown, moved to Providence, MD in 1649 and on to Prince George's county, MD in 1733. In 1791, William and Abraham Young sold two large parcels of land to George Washington in 1791 when he was establishing the city of Washington, DC. In the 1840's the Thomas Jefferson Young family moved to southern Ohio (Adams and later Highland counties).

I'm also researching the Daniel Cameron family that settled in southern Ohio in 1797, as well as the Godfrey Wilkin (Wilkey) family. My uncle, John S. Wilkin, and I have been working on the history of Phillip Wilkin's family which moved to southern Ohio from western Virginia in 1802.

I'm looking for information on the Hetherington family and the Henderson family from southern Ohio. I have very little information, but many old tintypes of these two families.

Having collected a large number of family photos dating back to the 1860's, I have been working on their preservation. I use a HP Scanjet® 4C and Photoshop® 4.0 for this work. I have also collected many of our families old home movies, coverted them to VHS and recently to DV. I have on the computer now and plan to start editting them soon.

Single station forecasting uses those data, and trends in the data, that can be observed at a single location to make a reasonable forecast. I'm particularly interested studying how accurately one can forecast weather from such a database. I hope, eventually, to publish a book aimed at lay readers on the topic.

Since my retirement I have been reworking my workshop to get it better organized and efficient. I have a basement space of about 18x26 to work with. I currently have a Delta® bandsaw, a Delta® drill press, a Sear® radial arm saw, a Sear® router in a Woodhaven® router table ,and a Powermatic® jointer. My most recent projects are end tables and a corner table for our family room. I'm just finishing an oak dictionary stand.

I am learning woodcarving with power tools. In particular, I am trying to carve realistic human faces.

Flyfishing is great fun and a wonderful time to explore nature. I will be taking advantage of Wisconsin's early trout season this year.

I retired in June of 1998, so I can now devote significantly more time to these interests.
