Truss Rod Planer

My truss rod planer serves two purposes. The first being if a truss rod slot needs to be a little deeper. In the photo you see 3 small 1/4 inch aluminum rods inserted into a 1/4 inch aluminum plate. the plate is attached to a laminate trimmer base. To make the slot a little deeper just adjust your trimmer to proper depth. then let the 1/4 rods ride in your current slot and zip zip your done.
NOTE- if you are using a wider truss rod slot use guide rods for that width
The second use for this jig is to cut out a area for truss rod adjustment. By simply inserting a 1/2 inch bullnose bit, you can again let the rods guide your bit and slowly cut back the amount to be removed. I usually cut a little then check until enough is removed.  It makes a really clean job.
