An 8 inch f/20 Windproof Cassegrain
Will Withstand the Wildest Winds Wyoming can Wage Without Wiggling
This heavyweight's claim to fame is that it is the only amateur-made telescope I am aware of that uses an anti-backlash spur gear as the main R.A. drive gear. Another example of design based on available materials rather than forethought, it nevertheless provided rock-steady views in even 80 MPH wind gusts. Built about 20 years ago, it served well as a planet-sketcher for 8 years but now languishes in a garage under a light-polluted sky, slowly yielding parts to other projects.
