I have not been able to trace the family any farther back than Philip. There are several of Philip's descendants who are also researching the family. One of them has information that at some point the surname may have been Dauge, not Dozier. I am especially interested in talking with anybody who might have information about Philip's ancestors as well as his descendants.
There is some evidence that the first Dauge ancestor lived in Princess Anne County, VA, then later moved to Currituck County, NC. Sometime in my GGGGrandfather's (Peter L. Dozier) life, the family moved to the area of Gibson County, TN. He was born in NC, but died and was buried in TN.
Other surnames I am interested in are: Abernathy, Baxter, Crabb, Dickey, Evans, Godsey, Mobley, Seagraves, Smith, Tidwell, and Thompson,. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
