The attempt to make the genealogy at $1 a copy has failed for want of a sufficient number of subscribers. It was not the size of the dollars, but the fewness of them that compelled a change in the plan. The total receipts did not exceed $400. I have made as large a volume as the funds would permit and send it to subscribers under the original plan. 

A few extra copies have been made to supply those who did not subscribe in advance. The price is $2 a copy. 

From the amount of records at hand I believe that five such volumes will be required to complete the genealogy. Volumes I, II and III will be devoted to the early Wheat settlers of New England and their decendants ; Volume IV to the early Wheat settlers of New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania and their decendants Volume V to the early Wheat settlers of Maryland and Virginia and their decendants. 

Volumes I, II and III, except the first 41 pages, relate to a single family. The first part of Volume I contains the foundation of all Wheat genealogy, and is an essential part of Volumes IV and V. 

Volume II will be undertaken as soon as receipts warrant its completion. Please send your subscription now at $2 a copy. 

Will your children need another copy of the first volume a few years hence? It will then be out of print. To make another copy will cost $200. To-day it costs only $2.
