Kocher Families
George Kocher
Born in 1755 at Oborrodorn, Germany, south of Frankfort. Died in 1811 at age 56.
He died the same year he arrived in south Russia. His wife's name was Katherina, born in 1765. They had four children when their father died: Elizabeth 16, Magdalena 14, Katharina 13, died in 1814, Anton 7, born 1804 in Germany.
Anton Kocher - son of George
He grew up in Kleinliebental. He was married to Marianna Baumstarck. They had sons by the name of Jakob, Peter and Blasius and daughters by the name of Katharina, b. 1832, Anna, and Magdalena. Anna married Nikolaus Dosch, son of Peter Dosch
Jakob Kocher - son of Anton
He grew up in Kleinliebental and died in 1918 of epilepsy. He was married to Genoveva Waldman, daughter of Benedict and Marianna Waldman of Kleinliebental. Their children were:

He grew up in Kleinliebental and married Dominika Heier. (1916 photo) They came to America in September 1900 and settled in Onaka, SD with two sons, Anton and Joseph. He died February, 1925, Onaka, SD.

Peter Kocher - son of Anton. Peter was born in 1848 and died in 1882 by drowning in the Black Sea. His wifes name was Johanna (nee Dosch) born in Russia in 1849 and died in 1914, age 65. They had eight children: Marianna, Michael, Magdalena, Anna, Elizabeth, John, Joseph and Emerencia.

Magdalena Kocher, daughter of Peter, born Feb. 18, 1872, in Russia, died April 9, 1956 in Minneapolis, Minn. married Joseph Sahli, 1893 in Kleinliebental, Russia. They came to America in 1900. They first lived in Onaka, S.D. then moved to Hague, N.D. in 1912. Joseph Sahli was born May 15, 1868, died January 29, 1947. They were both interred in Hague, N.D. They had the following children: Katharina, Elizabeth, Frank (born in Russia), Peter, Gladys, Martin (born in Onaka, S.D.), John and Julia (born in Hague, N.D.). Born June 5, 1878, died March 31, 1967 in Aberdeen, S.D. He came to America on May 11, 1899. He married Julia Gisi in the Sacred Heart church in Aberdeen, S.D. on July 5th 1902. Julia Gisi was born in Russia Aug. 26, 1884. She was 15 years old when she came to America. She died at Linton, N.D. Feb. 12, 1972. Both are interred in the St Marys cemetery in Aberdeen, S.D. Mrs. Kocher was a patient at the Strasburg, N.D. nursing home for several years. They farmed near Westport, S.D. until 1905. In the fall of 1905 they moved to farm near Onaka, S.D. In November 1915 they purchased a farm in Hague, N.D. where they lived until they retired in 1943. They moved to Aberdeen, S.D. where they lived until Mr.Kocher died. A few months later Mrs. Kocher entered the Strasburg, N.D. nursing home. They had the following children:

Emerencia Kocher - daughter of Peter. She was married to a Russian - Gregory Syintsakos. They came to America in about 1909. They did not like it here so they returned to Russia in 1911. She died during World War II. She was the Godmother of John Kocher Jr.
