Hawaii, Guam Pics-1944-45



Here are a few photographs taken while on duty with FRUPAC in 1944 and 1945. Identifications are as complete as memory allows.

Guam-Item from the local Joint Communications Newsletter on Guam -1945. Frupac had established its living area, and was later absorbed into JCA area. Transport vehicles left from the same area for the general communications sites and others for the FRUPAC sites.

Guam-Joe and Alan Dombro on Guam-1945. Alan was reassigned from the FRUPAC unit in Melbourne, Australia, to our unit on Guam. Alan and Joe grew up together in Penns Grove, NJ.

Guam-A shot of the general living area for FRUPAC in 1944.Seabees had built the Quonset huts and we moved in from pup tents as huts became available.

Guam-Hometown friend of Joe in front of Joes home quonset. (Hut C-20) You can note part of Joe's garden behind Harry. Grew banana trees and some flowers from seeds sent from home.

Hawaii- Beach at Waikiki in 1944, showing the "crowded conditions"...Diamond Head in the background.

Arlington, VA- Joe with Dave Swift (N6DWS) at the NCVA Reunion in Crystal City in 1998. The last time we saw each other was on Guam, 1945 right after the end of the war.
