Since Joe carved a natural branch and took care with the design not to carve too thin at any point; most of his canes were very strong. Still, he warned everyone they were not orthopedic canes, and one should be cautious about aplying full weight to them. He used rubber tips he often bought at Bill's hardware in New Carrolton.
Many of Joe's canes went off to their happy owners without so much as a photo kept as a record. I've seen no pictures of ones I remember such as the face that turned more maniacle as you rotated the cane, or the cane with a mask on the top that alowed you to stick your finger thru as the figure's tounge.
