"He's an artist and he reaches a point where he doesn't feel comfortable painting anymore. He doesn't feel that he's good at it anymore. He doesn't understand why he's doing it. And I think what he does in also a male way, he retreats from it. He tries to figure out a way around having to deal with it and he goes back to Montana to sort of hunt up his past, I think, to avoid having to face the future."
