Prayer Letter (Jun 2006)
To our companions on the journey.....

Philip Yancey says in one of his books that “time is to be ridden, not ridden by”....we have experienced both since our last prayer letter.
How about you?

The “new” year of 2006 can be summarized either by months: January, February, March, April, May, June or by trips: Korea, North Carolina, Costa Rica, Las Vegas, Colorado, Oregon, and Elkhart, Indiana.

Working in South Korea was THE major event. We were there for 6 weeks and the job was very challenging. The picture on the front shows two of the radio station staff, and us, in front of their radio complex, with their radio goal written on the building front.

That sign was one of the few things English in Korea as we struggled with language difficulties, with some food that would have given a Fear Factor contestant pause for thought, and with heavy physical contests as we lifted big tuning coils into place.

On the other hand (and there always is “another HAND”), the sweet fellowship with strong believers in ONE LORD was beautiful. We worshiped in several area churches on Sundays and many on the construction crew were Christians and they smiled and hugged their way into our hearts.

Working in THE MAZE of antenna tuning coils

The time in June in Elkhart, Indiana was another big project, but this time through the flexing of our mental gears, not our physical muscles. We prepared and gave a week of radio antenna instruction. The course, called Harvest Field Antennas, was given to 35 engineers who worked in many areas of Christian Broadcasting and the object was to help them understand the various choices in selecting an antenna for optimum reach in a missionary gospel broadcasting situation.

The weeks of preparation in looking for and sorting through over 1000 drawings and the many lectures and articles that John had made throughout the years was a lesson in patience and also, a review of God's faithfulness in our lives. It also proved the point that we must have a few years under our belts! Look at all the places we've been and all the radio stations we have worked at! What a mighty God we serve.

The next big project on the horizon is a work group in July. 17 people from Ruth's home church in Michigan have signed on as a formidable work force to help with some facility maintenance for Radio World Wide in Leeds, England. Radio World Wide works with local staff in many countries around the world to help them learn radio production of gospel programming.

Many of you know that our son, Andrew, was injured in a mortar attack in Iraq in December of last year. He has recovered well and his guard unit is now home from active duty. We thank you for the faithful prayers that you have lifted up. Don't stop now! He faces many “wars” on his home front.

BUT, someday, wars will end and “There shall be nothing in the city which is evil; for the throne of God and of the Lamb will be there, and his servants will worship him.” Revelation 22:3

Until then.....let us do HIS work,
