Greetings! (Feb 2004)
Dear Friends,

As we write this, a winter storm is raging in the states. But, we are having a sun-filled day in Costa Rica. Our wish for you is that your heart and spirit are warm wherever you are.

A few weeks ago, a sweet lady who has given us ministry money through the years, called to ask, "Are you still doing THIS?" The answer is YES, although it takes us longer to get each job done and it certainly takes us longer to get a prayer letter out to tell you what we are doing. The best thing we can say is "just assume we are still on the road" until you hear different!

UK work group 2004 A work group to England in July was a wonderful experience in every way. We enjoyed the chance to be back in England. We enjoyed working with and for the HCJB-UK missionaries, and with everyone in the group. And we enjoyed tracing John Wesley's (and Methodism's) roots in the 300th year anniversary of his birth. Have you thought much about your religious heritage? Do so sometime. It is warmly humbling.

John and Ruth in Palau Our time in Palau....from August through October....was again a wonderful experience. (Yes, we do have some of the not so wonderful kind, but even then, the Lord always has a lesson for us.) We have come to expect that the Lord usually has some things in store for us that we did not count on. We went to install some new equipment for the station there and that went well. We worked physically and mentally very hard, but we had such good helpers who are now our good friends. The station broadcasts to China, Vietnam and Cambodia and we are honored to be a part of that. (To read more about Palau, go to our web site for two more articles, one about a recent God-used tragedy and another about John being blind...yes, blind!)

One of the blessings that we did not expect in Palau was the opportunity for John to preach. He preached several times for the English speaking congregation and also for the Palauan congregation via an interpreter. We will probably not see these people again in our lifetime, but we'll surely rejoice warmly with them in heaven.

A "VERY WARM" experience in November was the burning of our son Andrew's house. They have since moved into another rental house, but still have some chaos in their lives, sorting out old stuff and finding replacements for things that burned. Not the kind of warm experience one would seek, but we are thankful that no one in the family was hurt.

In December came an unexpected trip, this time for John to go to Turkey. We had built some equipment for a mission group for a station they had started in the Sudan, but now they wanted John to go evaluate a station in Turkey. His heart was very warmed by the strength of the Turkish Christians. We continue to help with both these stations as they plan for expansion.

And now it is January of 2004 and we are in Costa Rica for two weeks, giving radio lectures to the staff of a transmitter factory. We have used some of their equipment in mission stations around the world and they are wanting to learn how to use new digital technology in their transmitters so that they will be more effective.

The calendar for 2004 already has many promises and challenges jotted on it. May we respond to HIS CALL faithfully and well. We pray for you to do the same.

Our Warm Thanks to each of you,
