My name is Jim Sare. I live near Detroit, Michigan, USA with my wife Joan, son Jimmy who is 17, and daughter Katy who is 14. I also have another daughter, Alicia, who is 25 and moved away from the nest in pursuit of her career since graduating from Michigan State University in December 1997. I am extremely proud of my 3 children. They are great kids. They stay well-focused on the things that really matter in life, and they have fun doing it.

I am the Vice President of Research and Development at dBASE Incorporated. This is a very challenging position. The rewards are tremendous. I work with a world-class team of software developers. We work to bring new technologies and new approaches to database software development that almost anyone can use. Did I say work? Well maybe it is work. But it doesn't seem like it most of the time. I'm having far too much fun to think of it as work.

I also teach. I have been teaching for about 25 years. I am a strong believer in passing along the knowledge I have gained such that others may benefit. I teach computer classes in a local school district for their Staff Development and Community Education programs.
