Note: William died childless and his will left property fort the support of a Chuch school with the condition that they provide a scholarship for the descendents of his brother Robert. That school became Harvard and the scholarship is still in existance. See PennoyerScholarship

2 Robert Pennoyer b: before 11/21/1614 in St. Nicholas Parish, Bristol, Eng. d: 1694 in Mararoneck, NY. He and his brother Thomas sailed on the "Hopewell of London" arriving 9/08/1635 in Massachusetts. Robert was a turner or cloth worker and a member of Church of England. After legal problems in 1639, he moved to New Amsterdam. A quarrel with blacksmith Thomas Sanderson resulted in Robert’s going to jail in New Amsterdam. In 1644, he served as a soldier in the two year Indian War with the Algonquins. On Nov. 29, 1645, he obtained a patent on a grant of land in Gravesend on the western end of Long Island which he sold in 1647. After further legal problems, he moved to Stamford in the New Haven Colony. He married, about 1652, False or Elsis Marshall. His legal problem continued when he was found guilty of being drunk and disorderly by the Fairfield County Court on the 27th of November 1665. On 13 February 1667, he was appointed constable at Mamaroneck, N. Y by Governor Nicolls.
