After my bike broke in February, 2007, I needed to find a replacement. This replacement had to fit into a similar category as the Old Fuji. Inexpensive.
A couple of different friends were on the lookout for me, and James came up with a mid 1980s era Fuji frame. Most of the parts switched over, and she rides pretty nice.
Here are the current specifications for the bike.
| Frame | Color: Basic Black Braze-ons: Front and rear fender. That's it. Tire Clearance: Not as good as the old Fuji, but will fit 28s and fenders. Rear Spacing: Originally 126mm. I spread to 130mm using Sheldon's instructions. |
| Fork | From the Fuji Sports 10, repainted black. |
| Brakes | Original Diacompe Center pull, Kool Stop Continental Pads. All from the old bike |
| Crank | Square taper Shimano 170 triple, running 28/38/48 biopace rings. |
| Rear Wheel | QBP Budget, |
| Front Wheel | QBP Budget, |
| Stem | Nitto |
| Bars | Nitto Noodle |
| Seat post | |
| Brake levers | Shimano Tiagra |
| Headset | Even brought this from the old Fuji. |
| Bottom Bracket | Shimano |
| Tires | |
| Bar Tape | Experimental cloth wrap. Not working too well. |
| Saddle | Brooks B17 Honey |
| Pedals | Wellgo SPD clones |
| Saddlebag | Carradice Nelson Longflap. |
| Saddlebag Support | Carradice Bagman Quick Release. |
| Fenders | Planet Bike |
| Front Light | Cateye EL500 |
| Computer | Cateye Wireless |
| Bell | A nice loud one originally on my Raleigh Twenty. |
Changes I'd like to make:
| Brakes | I'd like a nice pair of modern sidepulls, so the saddle bolt hanger doesn't change the braking every time I move the post. |
| Crankset | Stripped out an inner ring bolt. Replace with something inexpensive. |
| Fork | Maybe look at a lower trail fork from Kogswell. |
