I keep a sort of mileage log. It shows I have about 600 fewer miles this year than last, as of the beginning of September. There was evidence of this on today's ride, in the form of the hills. The western part of the county has lots. Today they seemed steeper and longer than at other times. So I walked up a lot of hills in this 19 mile, after work, 'bike ride.'
But hey, I'll take it. The weather was absolutely perfect, the roads almost traffic free, and the views were stunning. Its hard to ask for more.
I once more went from Myersville to Wolfsville and back. It was lovely. There is no easy way to take the dreaded Harp Hill Road, but I managed the less difficult option, north to south. The descent was perhaps the scariest I've ever done on pavement, long and fast. Exhilarating. Another long, but rideable, climb on Harmony Rd. got me to Bretheren Church Rd. and back into Myersville.
Just the ticket for an afterwork ride.
