The Rural North

I decided to try something different this week. My poor Fuji roadbike had been languishing unused since I got my Quickbeam. I bought a new cog for it a while ago, and I had it set up on the indoor trainer, but I really needed to get it out on the road. One of my Christmas gifts provided the nudge needed. I felt the new bike computer would be best mounted on road bike. Getting it set up was an experience. Worse that programming a Video player. In addition, I had also joined some online aquaintances in a frendly contest to combine weight loss and bike riding. To be a part, I needed to ride a three mile time trial, and I didn't want to ride a knobby-tired bike for that. The TT went well.

After that I headed over to the Loys Station Park to start the real ride. The fuji is geared higher that the quickbeam, at about 75 gear inches, so I was hoping for not too many big hills. There were a few shorter steep ones, but I made it up everything.

I crossed several grid decked bridges today, some were well posted with warnings and some had none, but at the speeds I was riding, things were not too bad. Slow and easy. If you think that regular road kill is bad, roadkill in a grid decked bridge is even worse. I spared you all photos of that.

Cool looking sentiniel trees along Mumma Ford Rd.
Mumma Ford is no longer a ford.
Sixes Bridge.
Sixes Rd. is closed further on for this bridge repair.
Dern Rd. ends at this nice looking farm.
Gregg Rd. gave me my dirt road fix.
There seemed to be a lot of goat farms along Bollinger Rd.
