When we moved in 2003, my commute distance doubled to 15 miles (by the most direct route). I'm also mostly a fair weather commuter and I'm not sure that my fitness is up the the new distance, but I keep working on it.
I realized that I had done a commute report in 2001 of my old route, so I thought this July, I'd do it again. Here it is.
![]() | Leaving the driveway about 6:25 am. The sun is just coming over the hills to the east. |
| Heading towards Rt. 31 |
![]() | The best downhills are on the way TO work. I'll pay for this this afternoon. |
![]() | Halo around a biker's shadow and a farm on Fountain School Rd. |
![]() | Empty roads so far. |
![]() | Once I hit Rt. 31 and then Rt. 26, traffic picks up. Libertytown. |
![]() | The shoulder is great on most of Rt. 26. |
![]() | The views are nice too. |
![]() | Moon over Mt. Pleasant. |
![]() | Down in the Monocacy River Valley. |
![]() | Green fields and mountians. |
![]() | Crossing the Monocacy. |
![]() | Getting closer to the crowds. |
![]() | Entering town. |
Going home is pretty much the reverse of the above, although the traffic always seems more frantic. If I have time and inclination, I can extend the ride home both on and off road. I'm truly blessed to live in this situation.
