The Oh-No-Not-THAT-Color
Challenge
This
year's Challenge, should you choose to take it, is to use a color in your
weaving that you never use, or, to put it politely, loath.
There are NO
rules or regulations except that you cannot just choose a shade, tint or hue of
your favorite color. This means that
if you love purple, you can't choose a light violet or a dark maroon and call
it different. If you love green, you can't
just choose to use a dark olive or lime green. If you absolutely just can't resist using your favorite color,
think compliment. During Color Study
one of the chosen colors was blue. Its
compliment is orange. These two colors
just don't go together except on the Chicago Bears uniforms, but, in the right
proportions, and using shades, tints or hues, can be very attractive. You need not use a huge amount of your
chosen "loathsome" color.
Sometimes, just a few threads will give the weaving a spark.
Your Challenge can be
anything you can weave – from a single mug rug to an article of clothing, to a
wall hanging.
So, be creative, pick a
color you've never used and never wanted to use and let your imagination soar
on the Oh-No-Not-THAT-Color Challenge.
