So just what the heck is a WaRM WUDI? I thought you'd never ask! It stands for White Rock Mountain
WUDsracer Invitational.
Jim Cook was nice enough to volunteer to show some of us Yankee spodes around down in Arkansas in February. The only
riding we get to do at that time of year is on snowmobiles up here in Minnesota! It's grown from there into whatever
it is now. This is NOT a full blown spodefest. We are planning on all trailriding and no MX at this point.
The plan is to meet at WRM on Friday, 2/25. That is just east of Fayetteville, Ark. We'll ride there
Saturday, 2/26 and Sunday, 2/27. Jim has found a guide for us who is suppose to be THE person for the job. There are
reportedly 200 miles of trails in that area.
After riding on Sunday, 2/27 we'll head for the Chadwick, MO area for riding on Monday, 2/28 and Tuesday, 2/29. This
area is just SE of Springfield, MO. Stewart Hall will be the local trail ride guru
at Chadwick. Stewart's club maintains trails, sets up the HS and Enduro held at Chadwick and rides there often. He's
a great guy and a hotshoe. He won his class in HS and Enduro this year and got bumped up to A class for his
efforts. Congrats again, Stewart!
There is a Hare Scrambles over near Russellville, Ark on Sunday, 2/27. The following is courtesy of Stewart Hall:
"It is just north of Russellville. It is about 1hr 45 min. from White Rock. It is about 6 miles long. It has a little
moto section (couple sets of whoops, couple table tops, and a couple of doubles ). It has some tight stuff and a couple
of open areas. Some rocks but not bad. We can also ride at the harescramble course if we want."
I've never ridden at WRM but Jim says the following about it:
"White Rock is more mountainous than Chadwick, but at the same time, the trail
is easier, for the most part. Some of the hills are so long that your ears will
"clear" (scuba term) three times before you get all the way up or down. There
are overlooks, where you can see for miles. You are going to enjoy it!"
I (John Brunsgaard) have ridden at Chadwick on two different trips. Chadwick has a well developed and marked
trail system. It's very rocky (Stewart calls it 'The Rock'!) but not like boulders or anything. Mostly
planted flat rocks with a lot of loose rock in some areas. I love riding down there but it's hard on tubes
and tires. Make sure you get thick tubes from Jim (see below for prices).
Speaking of which, it's time to plug our sponsor and namesake. Jim, for those of you who don't know, owns Smackover
Motorsports in scenic Smackover, Ark. Click on his name or picture above to link to his website. He sells GasGas
dirtbikes. Jim can get you almost any part for whatever bike you ride for great prices. If you have him deliver it to
the ride you will not have to pay shipping or sales tax.
Anyway, he's a great guy who will give you the shirt off his back. I rode with him in Chadwick last February and I
rode with him at his beloved (for good reason, too) Breezy Hills riding area near Alexandria, LA over Thanksgiving
this year.
Chadwick requires a permit to ride. They may be purchased in the town of Chadwick. Spark arrestors are
also required at Chadwick. Permits for Chadwick are $5 per day and $35 per year. It appears that we
will not need permits or stickers to ride at WRM.
I talked to Jim at length about tubes and tires. He's going to run the Dunlop 756 front/Michelin S12 rear combo that
he loves so much. I have the same setup on my bike right now so I may go with it, too. Other tires he recommended
are a Dunlop 755 front, a new Michelin M12 rear, or a $40-6 ply Vee Rubber that he sells.
You should run heavy tubes in both tires. Moose Super Tubes are very good tubes and Jim will sell them to you
at $21 per, which is a very good price. Again, there will be no tax or shipping charges on stuff you have Jim
bring along for you. Give him a call at 870-725-3966 to place your orders. Again, click on his picture at the
top of this page to go to his web site.
You can still see the real Jim by clicking on his name from the spodelist. ;-)
Temps will most likely run from near freezing at night to 60/70+ during the day. Altitude will be up to 3000' so no
rejetting is required.
Post your questions and suggestions there on the message board. You'll
have to bookmark this page and come back to it from your bookmarks/favorites list. There's no 'home' button on
the message board as that's out of my control.

This is of Cass, Ark which is close by to the riding area. More details as we get closer to the date. Notice Branson to the north.
