PREPARING FERRIC OXALATE POWDER
Basic Equipment List with some Descriptions

scale - accurate to at least 1 gram; tore compensation optional.

beaker - one "high form" 500 ml as used for precipitates. Option: a Pyrex measuring cup (500ml size) can also be used.

weighing paper - stationary paper or similar, cut to fit on scale, creasing edges can form a cup shape helping to prevent spillage.

stirring rod - one plastic or glass rod, strong. Option: a plastic knife (unbreakable) can also be used.

plastic film - roll of clear plastic kitchen wrap.

spatula, spoon, and/or knife - plastic or stainless steel may be kitchen type utensils, one of each. The knife should have an edge and the strength to divide the chunks of ferric oxalate into a powder.

absorbent paper - white paper towels or napkins, roll or pack (sheets cut to 25x25 cm). One large roll of kitchen paper towels will likely get used.

plastic mesh - plastic or fiberglass window screen or mosquito netting, one piece 20x20 cm.

plastic container with hermetically sealing cover - one with base of 30x30 cm such as those which are used to preserve nutritional products in refrigerators (Tupperware, Rubbermaid, etc.)

Container for drying phase III - glass or plastic desiccator.

This container can be assembled from several plastic containers or the type mentioned above.

2 small plastic containers without covers, 1 for drying agent and 1 for ferric oxalate.

1 plastic container (large enough to contain both of the others) with hermetical cover.

Final container - wide mouth amber glass bottle with polypropylene cap and flat Teflon liner.
