| This exhibit is
comprised of Folded Axis Work (about
the
Folded Axis Work). Each piece is a platinum palladium print on fine cotton fabric from two 8x10 negatives. Each set of negatives was made from the same camera position, but at different moments. The fabric is mounted with window mats front and back and framed with glass front and back. The frames are position away from the wall by spacers allowing light to be transmitted through the fabric. It is intended that about 20% of the viewing light will be transmitted and 80% reflected. Such illumination emphasizes the additional substance and depth the fabric substrate brings to the Pt/Pd print and provides increased luminosity. The purpose of this work is to study the construct of nature, both the physical and the metaphysical. Not part of this exhibit, but included above for interest and comparison, are images of the single negative un-folded images. |
