JMB Tour 2000 News
Band members returned home Sunday night from a successful 3 week tour of Wisconsin, Iowa and Michigan where the band participated in festival competitions sanctioned by MACBDA ( Mid-America Competing Band Directors Association).
The Junior Military Band won the Grand Championship Trophy at the Flags of Freedom Festival Competitions in Madison, Wisconsin winning first place honors in the Concert Band Competition and first place in the Parade Band Competition. At the National Cherry Festival Band Competitions in Traverse City, Michigan, the band won first place in class honors in the Junior Royale Parade and the Cherry Royale Parade. In the Cherry Festival Field Show competition, the band captured high Music Execution, high Percussion, and high Music General Effect caption awards as they went on to win the first place field show award and Grand Champion Governor's Award. Drum Majors Carlie Donnelly and Reid Young of Poland, Josh Hawkins of Leetonia, and Sarah Smith of Warren were honored with the Best Drum Majors Award at competions in Stoughton, Janesville, and Racine, Wisconsin and Knoxville, Iowa. Percussion also won the Best Percussion award in Oskaloosa, Iowa.
