Suspicious Acts
Presents
“Death Gets In The Act”
A Lt. Reilly Mystery Set In 1942
At Grand Hotel, Mackinac Island, Michigan
October 10-12, 2008
Imagine the perfect setting for a
vintage mystery.
Glimmering
like a diamond on an island of brilliant green, Grand Hotel
beckons
you to a bygone era of
old world hospitality and charm. Back to a time of
horse-drawn carriages,
High Tea, and croquet on an endless lawn. An era of
dining to chamber
music and dancing the evening away. Here no automobiles
are permitted, no
bridges connect to the island, nothing intrudes on the serenity
and natural beauty. .
.
except when . . .
. . . it is 1942 and the
world is at war.
Maintaining
morale, both at home
and among the men and women in uniform
is a matter of high
importance. As part of a respected talent agency
you are invited to Grand Hotel for the organization
of
the first major USO
show tour. As agents, performers, producers
and army brass
look for talent, it becomes clear they should
be looking for something
far more important. As you mingle with
famous people from the
world of entertainment, stay alert. All is not
as it seems; dark forces are at work as
murder replaces laughter and 'Death Gets In The Act.’

Make It a Special Weekend of Murder, Mystery and Fun
Team Up With Friends
Solving the crime at a
Grand Hotel Murder Mystery Weekend is a team effort
using the talents and
abilities of many sleuths
working together. You can
arrange to
be on a team with
specific other guests by calling
the Suspicious Acts
Hotline at 586-463-9777 or

PUT TOGETHER A VINTAGE
‘LOOK’

Vintage clothing is not required for this event, but if
you think it might be fun to
put together an entire
costume, an entire weekend
of 1940s style outfits, or
just add a vintage touch
to your evening ensemble,
it may be easier than you think. Special note: Our mystery includes the world of the Allied military forces and, therefore, all
uniforms of all branches of the military in the 1940s - as well as civilian fashions. We
can help with tips and suggestions.
send an email to Suspicious Acts.
Call
the Suspicious Acts Hotline at 586-463-9777 and tell us who you would like to
"be" during the Murder Mystery Weekend. Of course, only one person
will be allowed to "be" a particular celebrity, so call early and
reserve your "identity." Guests are free to do as little or as much
research into the appearance, life, and personality of their chosen celebrity
as they wish. Choose a personality from sports, music, politics, and literature
. . . any personality
from
the 1940s, famous or notorious, is fair game (and we do include famous
fictional characters, especially those drawn from the mystery genre). Think of
the possibilities! Fred Astaire, Clark Gable, Charlie Chaplin, Greta Garbo,
Ernest Hemingway, Dashiell Hammett, Winston Churchill, just to name a few.
We have a whole list of suggestions!
