TRAIL DESCRIPTION: The walk is on a paved road beginning at the north end of the parking area and goes through Sabino Canyon, the 12 km option continuing to the end of the paved road. Beautiful Sabino Creek flows year-round and follows along the road for most of the walk. The road is restricted to walkers, shuttle buses and bikes (restricted times). The route goes through scenic Sonoran Desert riparian environment. You walk over many interesting field stone bridges constructed by the WPA in 1936. Trail rating: 2 (1 is easiest and 5 is the most difficult), due to elevation gain of 700 ft. for the 12 km option.

Here is an "electronic walk" through Sabino Canyon with photographs and descriptions of the canyon.

After completing the walk, drop by the Sabino Visitors Center on the east side of the Parking Area. It has some interesting exhibits and a nicely stocked book and gift shop. Support the Friends of Sabino Canyon in their efforts to protect and enhance Sabino Canyon.

WATER & RESTROOMS: Water and restrooms are available at the Start/Finish Point. No water is available past the 2 km. point on the trail. During the hot summer months when temperatures may be 100 degrees plus, it is advisable to carry 1 to 2 quarts of water and wear sunglasses and a hat. There is no shade along the route. Restrooms are available all along the paved part of the trail.
