Jim Burch, retired pilot examiner, whose book, "Glider Pilot and Flight Instructor Practical Test Guide", helped more than a thousand applicants pass their glider practical tests has now prepared a CD-ROM that includes preparation for knowledge tests as well.

This interactive CD contains information needed to pass glider Private Pilot, Commercial Pilot, and Flight Instructor FAA knowledge and practical tests. Its eleven chapters cover all subjects tested by the FAA and additional information serious glider pilots will want to know. It is illustrated with animated graphics to enhance understanding of concepts some find difficult, such as "performance airspeeds" and "vectors".

After studying this material, students can test their understanding by reviewing all of the applicable FAA knowledge questions for the Private Pilot, Commercial Pilot, Flight Instructor, and Fundamentals of Instructing tests. An excerpt from the FAA's reference document related to each question is presented to justify its "correct" answer. For a long time the FAA stated that the questions appearing on knowledge tests were taken from their knowledge question database. To be sure that the questions appearing in this CD were the latest versions they were updated each time the FAA updated its database. That was a formidable task even though the changes were usually only the question number or the position of the correct answer (e.g. A. B. or C.) Now the FAA says that actual test questions will be similar to those in the database so there is no urgency to update the CD questions unless new material becomes available. That major reduction in the effort required to keep this CD current will be passed along to users by a PRICE REDUCTION.
