TEXAN AND AMERICAN HISTORY
GENEALOGY
For a good entry point, read my grandmother's
account of growing up a hundred years ago.
MY FAVORITE QUOTES
Includes inspirations such as Coolidge's "Press On!", Former Congressman
Jake Pickle on youthful accomplishment, and Perot on killing snakes. Following
that is a section of quotes on science, perception and intelligence (human
and machine) from a variety of thinkers such as H.G. Wells, Descartes,
Hume, Hoyle, etc., with my occasional comments.

BRIEF SUMMARY OF MY LIFE
This section is specifically for people asking "What have you been up
to?" I'll start at the present and work backwards as far as you could possibly
desire.
-
On June 10, I began working for MicroStrategy
as a Sales Consultant. See the bootcamp pictures.
-
From Oct. 30, 1997 through June 10, 1998, I worked as a Programmer/Analyst
with Whole Foods Market (Austin is their HQ). I was in charge of the successful
efforts to port their mission-critical, heavily customized FourGen accounting
package from a Data General box to a Sun E10K.
-
Late August, 1997, I joined an old friend on an adventure to the Cayman
Islands (and took some pictures). It was
here that I discovered the mega-brain.
-
August, 1997, I ceased work on the ShoppingScout
prototype.
-
May, 1997, I left Informix Software
to work on an idea that had been brewing for a couple of years: ShoppingScout
-
San Antonio / USAA: learning the ropes of the stock market at USAA Investment Systems.
-
Scottsdale / Motorola (finding a job during the oil and real-estate busts...leaving
Texas)
-
THE University of Texas
-
Lubbock, dust storms, and good people
-
Family history (father's branch). With one exception, my web-ized
ancestral information will probably not be of interest to anyone but family,
but I suspect that even non-relatives might enjoy my
grandmother's account of her early years.
