During early 1944, ten USAAF B-24s of the Chinese-based 7th Bombardment Group were transferred to the Chinese Air Force. However, the crews were unable to learn how to fly these planes, and the Liberators were returned to the USAAF in August of that year.
In May of 1945, three B-24Ms were again transferred to the Chinese Nationalist Air Force, followed by another 23 in July. This time, the crews had better luck in learning how to fly them successfully. Ultimately, a total of 38 B-24Ms were transferred to China. Many of these were transferred to Taiwan when the mainland was taken over by Mao Tse-Tung's Communist forces in 1949. I have few other details of their service on Taiwan, and I have only a couple of their CAF serial numbers. Can anyone help?
