PROOFS OF INSPIRATION
The Bible is the revelation (a laying bare, to uncover, to
unveil) of the mind of God unto man. Those who wrote the Bible were
inspired ("God-breathed") to reveal an infallible, inerrant record of
the very words of God. This inspired revelation contains many proofs
of inspiration. Some of these we shall notice.
The Bible is distinctly and uniquely different from any other
book ever written. It is so different in content and its very nature
that this presents one of its most impressive characteristics. The
Bible gives a message to the world that tells man what he is, where
he came from and where he is going.
Some of the subjects to be covered as Proofs of Inspiration:
(1) Unity of the Bible
(2) Fulfilled Prophecy
(a) Old Testament Events
(b) Messianic Prophecies.
(3) Scientific Accuracy of the Bible
(4) Archeological Accuracy of the Bible
(5) Miracles
(6) The Style of the Bible
(7) The Moral Standard of the Bible
(8) The Bible--its very Survival
(9) Internal Evidence
THE UNITY OF THE BIBLE
A. The Bible, though one unified book, is composed of 66 books;
written by 40 writers, over a period of about 1600 years. Those
who write had widely varied backgrounds: Shepherds, kings,
soldiers, prophets, farmers, fishermen, poets, prisoners, military
leaders, tentmaker, the learned and the unlearned. The Book was
written in different languages and different circumstances; a king
on his throne, a captive in a dungeon, beside the still waters or
from an island while in exile.
B. A vast difference of circumstances when the books were written:
Many writers unknown to one another, lived in different places,
lived in different times, wrote in different languages, wrote on
different subjects and different problems.
C. A variety of contents: law, history, psalms, proverbs, biography,
autobiography, prophecy, parables, personal letters, hymns,
directions for worship, instruction for righteous living, civil
legislation, miracles, eternity, sermons, romance, obituaries,
etc., etc.
D. MANY BOOKS (66); YET ONE BOOK: A single thread runs throughout,
from the beginning (Genesis 3:15) to end. God's plan and fulfill-
ment, from the fall of man to the cross of Christ. The only con-
clusion to be reached is that this Book, The Bible, came from one
mind, THE MIND OF GOD.
The Bible is the inspired revelation from Jehovah. There are no
contradictions; there is no discord. It is never necessary to rewrite
the Bible in order to bring it up to date. It is, indeed, GOD'S WORD.
"All hail the power of Jesus' name,
Let angels prostrate fall,
Bring forth the royal diadem
And crown Him Lord of All."
