PRESERVING CHRISTIAN PUBLICATIONS--This nonprofit organiztion has been saving traditional Catholic books from destruction for several years now. They have literally thousands of old books for sale. I have had the pleasure of associating with them since they started. They are honest and their prices are very reasonable.
ST. BONAVENTURE PUBLICATIONS--This group's original claim to fame was it's being the first to reprint the venerable "Liber Usualis" in forty years. This was the standard book of Gregorian chant of the Catholic Church until Vatican II, and quite hard to come by in any decent condition or price. Since that most worthy undertaking they have reissued several other standard, yet long out of print volumes. They also carry used, original Libers as availability allows.
ST. STEPHEN'S BOOK EXCHANGE--Besides also having a wide selection of old Catholic books, this group also has a limited selection of used liturgical items. The site is not updated often enough in my opinion; so check with them directly about availability. Items are available which may not be listed. I will vouch for the honesty and integrity of these good people.
RENAISSANCE OF CATHOLIC ART--A Web site dedicated to the restoration of Catholic culture through the Church's contribution to the arts. A classy, well done site with lots of interesting pictures and information. Take a little time; definitely not one to rush through.
SANCTA-THE RELIGIOUS GOODS SHOP--This site belongs to Edgaras Mickevicius and his family of Vilnius, Lithuania. His family started the business many years ago even in the midst of communist repression. Now with the fall of the Iron Curtain, opportunities have opened up on an international scale. Edgaras specializes in antique Icons, and he comes up with some pretty incredible finds at modest prices, but he also deals in a few Roman Catholic liturgical items too. Email him with your wants. A truly wonderful and decent family who stake their reputation on every transaction.
HOPE OF ST. MONICA INC.--This particular site is not really about the restoration of artifacts themselves, but the Faith per se. As they themselves describe it "The restoration of hearts". They have some nice books and religious articles in their catalog. Also some truly wonderful people to do business with. I know, because I have. Check them out!
QUINTUS' LATIN TRANLATION SERVICE--There is and always has been only one official language of the Catholic Church, LATIN! But if your Latin has gotten a little rusty (and if you're a product of the 60's and 70's it's probably non-existant), and you need an exact translation, this site is for you. For a small fee, you can have your text translated into Latin that would make even Cicero proud. Some of their customers have included professionals and institutions, anxious not to be embarrassed by poorly worded logos, mottos etc... Be sure and check out their links to get a good dose of the Language of the Ages, especially my favorite: THESAURUS PRECUM LATINARUM (Treasury of Latin Prayers)
THE ATELIER OF ST. ELIGIUS--This is the homepage of an enterprising young lady. She has faithfully copied several old reliquaries using modern techniques, and offers them for a fraction of what the originals would bring at auction. Unfortunately there is usually a waiting list, as hers is a small operation; low volume manufacturing costs are quite high.
PAX HOUSE--Here's an idea of mine for years, but somebody beat me to it! My friends south of the border, the U.S. border that is, have been faithfully reproducing antique liturgical artifacts. While these pieces may not be perfect in every minute detail, they are fully functional and well made for the price; a fraction of what you'll have to pay if you insist on an original antique. Whether your chapel needs a nice traditional censer, a set of altar candlesticks, or any one of a growing list of items, these are the people to see. All pieces are custom made in their own studios in sunny Guadalajara. Visit my good amigos online, and be sure and tell 'em, Jack sent ya!
INTERNATIONAL CRUSADE FOR HOLY RELICS--This is the American homepage, "Saints Alive", for this wonderful organization of which I am a proud member. It is devoted to the preservation of the remains of the saints of the Catholic Church. Whether you possess any relics yourself, or are simply interested in relics, you will find these pages quite fascinating. A really classy and unique site.
