Yellowheaded Black bird. These birds are very common in Eastern Washington and
Southern B.C.. They arrive each year around the middle of April and nest in the reeds in
the shallows of many lakes and ponds. Canada Geese and goslings are a common sight in the Northwest, nesting in
both the city lakes and the country.
Loons
are common in the B.C. Lakes. In some lakes they are a problem as they follow fishermen
around waiting for them to catch a fish to steal from the line. However, they have one of
the most memorable and beautiful calls of any animal on this earth.
