Restoring the original animated logo in Internet Explorer 5.0 is easy.

NOTE: If you decide to 'hack' the Registry, please be sure to read the Registry Information page and, perhpas, consider backing up your current settings before proceeding.

 

 


    To begin:

    1. Select the "Run" command from the "Start Menu"
    2. Launch the "Registry Editor" by typing "Regedit" in the Open Text Box.
    3. Once the Registry Editor is up and running, double click on the HKEY_CURRENT_USER key.  When this sub-tree is visible, open each of he following sub-keys in succession:
      •  Software
      •  Microsoft
      •  Internet Explorer
      •  Toolbar
    4. After you open the Toolbar sub-key, find the registry settings:
      • "BrandBitmap", and
      • "SmBrandBitmap" values.
    5. Right click on the "BrandBitmap" value in the right pane and select "Delete" from the shortcut menu. When you do, you’ll immediately see the "Confirm Value Delete Dialog Box". To continue, click "Yes".
    6. Use the same steps to delete the "SmBrandBitmap" value.
    7. Once you’ve deleted both values, exit the "Registry Editor"
    8. Restart your system
    9. Connect to the Internet
    10. Start Internet Explorer... you’ll now see that the Genuine Internet Explorer 5.0 Animated Logo
