Weekend 18: July 30th, 31st, & August 1st, 2004

It is still hot as hell here but work continues at a good pace. We prepared and primed the boom, (if it will get wet, it gets primed!), and tail feathers. We're getting ready to do some covering soon. We went with the white epoxy—I think it will look a lot cleaner. We then played a little more with the dashboard. I think it's going to work out very well. We also worked on the headrests. I need to start making the new deck hatch; I just can't see putting a flat hatch onto a rounded deck—besides—I want to make it like a car's remote gas lid without the screws.

Weekend 19: August 6th, 7th & 8th, 2004

Near the 5 month mark and we continue. With darkness comes the cool desert breeze, our endeavor continues unimpeded until the wee hours of morn. Comes the light of the sun and the temps they will rise, I'll be inside sleeping during the highs. Some wiring got done; the dash is aglow. The tail appendages worries me though. With the cables attached and all snuggled up, this damn thing just doesn't look at all right. Sunday was 112—we need air conditioning because it's hotter than HELL!

Weekend 20: August 13th, 14th & 15th

20 Weekends into this project and we continue at a good pace. We're looking forward to cooler weather and to start the covering in another month or so. We started reinforcing the dash panel while waiting for the turn coordinator to finish of the flight instrument layout. We did some more wiring and figured out the vertical fin cable problem—I'll think more on that later.
