Weekend 9—Memorial Day Weekend: May 28th, 29th, 30th & 31st, 2004

It's starting to get over 100 degrees by noon now; time to go to a nightshift. We didn't like the pylon covers sheet metal — we'll find something better for that later. So . . . we did the big mockup just to see how it all fit. Looks cool. I love those clecos. The seats came this week so in they'll go next weekend and then we can start thinking about the instruments and switch layouts before it all comes apart.

Weekend 10: June 4th, 5th & 6th, 2004

110 degrees and with the supervisor gone on vacation, it was a laid-back weekend. I finished polishing the turtle deck, then finished off the fuel tank, cabin windows and figured out an instrument layout and all without the inspector. We got the seats (kind of?)—the short story is they look and feel great—but I didn't burn my lawn chair cushions yet, because the seats have to go back! Next week we'll be figuring out the bells and whistles (switches and knobs), marking the windshield so I can paint the edges, and making more comfortable motor noises!

Weekend 11: June 11th, 12th & 13th, 2004

With my depression involving the seats, and without my esteemed supervisor around, (**sniff**) I didn't even look inside. I decided to work on the sheet metal. I was able to fix the creases in the pylon covers then I cut, stretched and fitted them. They came out better than I thought they would! (The stuff is like butter.) I'll paint all of the sheet metal (it all comes off) next weekend and then try to finish the dash layout and maybe (?) the adjustments to the landing gear before I have to send the seats back.
