This was in 62. I didn't
realize until recently that the girl in the far background was the person
that I would have to rescue a day or so after this picture was taken. By
the way, that's Brenda in the sand. |

Dick Doerr at work.

Dick was manager for Ed (Ed's Beach
Service.) |

Jim at the last day of Summer
|
The rescue board was 12
ft. long and 2 ft wide. It was hollow, made of marine plywood, and had spruce
struts every 18 inches. It weighed about 45 pounds. It would support three
adults. Built in winter 61. |
 |
They were reserved
|
The cards that the girls
are holding say "Reserved". I came up with the idea of weekly
rates for renting the umbrella and chairs. The reserved cards were placed
in the chairs to reserve the equipment for guests. |
 |
Just take the picture
|
I looked a little put out.
Can't remember for sure why, but I do remember the photographer was a strolling
beach photographer that was interrupting important business. He just had
to have a photo of Chicago! |
