Human (UNSC) Forces

There are many organizations among the UNSC here are the more known branches.

Marines: A rugged and diverse assortment of soldiers, the Marines of the UNSC are fighting a losing war against the Covenant's superior weaponry and numbers. Under the leadership of someone like Captain Keyes, or Admiral Whitcomb, they continue to wage a furious struggle against the Covenant, even as their numbers dwindle. They're the best of the best--but they're only human.

ODST: The Orbital Drop Shock Troopers are the Marines who make orbital insertions through planetary atmospheres. The 105th ODST Division is the toughest of the ODST Divisions and are nicknamed "Helljumpers" for their tenacity. Delivered to their targets via HEVs (Human Entry Vehicles), these soldiers are always in the most danger of being killed on a mission. They are the toughest soldiers the UNSC has to fight the Covenant with other than the SPARTAN-II's. ( They're the ones that have the sweet looking SWAT team armor)

ONI: The Office of Naval Intelligence is the core of the UNSC's secret projects. From the SPARTAN-II program, to the NOVA experiment, the doctors, engineers, and scientists of ONI have been at work trying to find an edge over the Covenant. ONI is split up into different groups, the most noteworthy being Section 3, the top-secret section which was the birthplace of the SPARTAN-II program. Section 2 is the "information control" branch of ONI; they control information that the public receives, they also "protect" the population from information they deem too damaging to morale. ONI and the UNSC are often at odds with each other, and their respective leaders are always at each other's throats. While ONI is preparing another secret project that can thwart the Covenant's advance, the UNSC are more likely to use brute force and weapons when it comes to fighting the Covenant. ONI has a successful history with it's projects, it's most successful being the SPARTAN-II super soldier.

ONI is main source of intelligence for the UNSC. ONI is divided into "Sections" as follows.

Section 1 is the main intelligence used by the UNSC. Covenant ship movements and force deployment, evacuation notices for colonies, and much more are all released by Section 1. Minimal intra-UNSC security.

Section 2 is the propaganda branch of ONI. They handle communication to and from colonies to reduce the level of rumors and information that would cripple morale. They were responsible for going public with the SPARTAN-II program. Even after the release of this information to the public, the SPARTANs were still viewed as near-mythological figures. Most marines and ODSTs didn't believe they even existed until they saw them for themselves. Because of the low morale among the colonies, the SPARTANs are always listed as Missing-In-Action instead of Killed-In-Action upon death. This gives the illusion that SPARTANs can not and do not die. Higher-than-average intra-UNSC security.

Section 3 is the top-secret projects division. They are responsible for the SPARTAN-II project, the NOVA project, and many other "black op" programs. The secrets possessed by ONI are the key to Earth's continued survival, for the Covenant cannot be beaten with military forces alone. Though a few of Section 3's programs are well known for their success, most of them are disdained by the Marines and brass of the UNSC, especially the SPARTANs, who are generally regarded as "freaks". Extreme intra-UNSC security.

Section Zero is the most secretive section of ONI. Almost no one knows exactly what they do, let alone know it even exists.

HighCom: Based in Sydney, Australia, HighCom is the command of the UNSC and ONI. It controls all military and intelligence branches of Earth's forces, and all leaders of every major branch must report to HighCom. It's base, Bravo-6, or "The Hive" is located three kilometers under the surface of Sydney, and is protected by natural granite deposits, as well as solid Titanium-A alloy layers and EMP-hardened metal shielding.

NavSpecWar: Naval Special Warfare is a division of the UNSC of elite Marines and ODSTs who go on "special" missions. They are trained to the utmost to fight under any conditions. They are the driving force behind the term "discretionary warfare". Colonel James Ackerson is one of the leading board members for the NavSpecWar mission planning board.

SWD: The SWD is an elite organization which is run by several high-ranking officers within the UNSC. Colonel James Ackerson is one of the board members of the Special Weapons Division, along with Admiral Danforth Whitcomb.
