UNSC Personnel

Master Chief: John was secretly taken from his parents at the age of six and placed into the Spartan project. Genetically altered with neural implants, reinforced bones, and faster reflThe Cheif with a Plasma Rifle? You might as well give him a rock.exes. Only half of the children in the project were able to go to become soldiers, the other half either died or suffered defects. He was trained on the Fortress world of Reach, there he attained the rank of Master Chief petty officer (hence the name Master Chief) and is the leader of the Spartans because of his superior leadership skills he exhibited during his training on Reach and was taught military stuff (tactics, combat techniques, and military history). He has won every major UNSC medal with the exception of the POW medallion. Before mankind encountered the Covenant the Master Chief and the other Spartans were sent around the human colonies doing glorified "police work" for the Military.

After humanity encountered the Covenant the Chief and his fellow Spartans got an equipment upgrade, a blend of human and Covenant technology the Mark-2 Mjolnir armor allowed the Spartans to take more hits in battle without being wounded. In response to the utter annihilation of the Outer Colony world of Harvest the Spartans engage the Covenant in battle. The Spartans lose one supersoldier while the Covenant lose a warship. After battles rage between the Covenant and Humans in the Outer Colonies for 20 years. During the Battle of Reach the Chief and the other Circumference. After completing his mission the Chief and the remnants of his team got back to the Pillar of Autumn just as the Covenant overran Reach stranding the remaining forces including the Spartans on the planet below. Capt. Keyes ordered the Pillar of Autumn to enter a random slip space jump just as the Covenant began "glassing" ( glassing is the term used for when the Covenant orbitally bombard a planet with plasma thus turning the surface to glass the planet). The Pillar of Autumn entered the Halo system setting off the events in Halo/Halo 2.

Sgt. Johnson:  Sgt. Avery J. Johnson has been fighting the Covenant since he was old enough to join the Marines. After joining, he was assigned to the troop regiments on Paris IV. When the Covenant attacked the planet in the Siege of Paris IV, Don't make me take off my belt.Sgt. Johnson fought valiantly. He captured a crate of plasma grenades from the Covenant when his troops needed weapons and used them all against the Covenant to keep them at bay so his troops could evacuate. After they returned to Reach for reassignment, doctors discovered an unusual side effect of using so many plasma grenades: a type of radiation poisoning called Boren's Syndrome had affected Sgt. Johnson's neural electric pathways. He refused treatment, and this ultimately helped him in the future.

After being assigned to the Pillar of Autumn and her secret mission, he took command of the Marines on board. He was instrumental in helping keep the Marines effective even after they were marooned on the ring-world Halo. He was presumed dead after the Master Chief found a helmet recorder entry from PFC Wallace Jenkins that displayed parasitic organism's called Flood  attacking Sgt. Johnson, Captain Keyes, PFC Jenkins and the rest of their Squad. After he had been recovered alive with other surviving members of the Pillar of Autumn aboard a Pelican Dropship in space near Halo's wreckage, it was discovered that the Sgt.'s medical condition was the cause for his survival, because the Flood could not force a match between it's neural pathways, and that of Sgt. Johnson's.

During the events in Halo 2 Sgt Johnson fought alongside the Master Chief and other Marines on the Orbital weapons station Cairo during the Prophet of Regret's relatively minor assault on earth, and succeeded in stopping the covenant from destroying the station. After saving the station Johnson joined the marines on Earth, battling to defend the city of New Mombassa where most of the covenant forces landed. (Mombassa is an actual city in Kenya) After which He joined the Master Chief on the Amber Clad en route to Delta Halo (Installation 05)

Cortana: The incredibly helpful AI that accompanies the Master Chief through Halo and Halo 2 via his helmet slot. She was designed by Dr. Halsey, the creator of most of the Spartans technology and in way the Spartans themselves, specifically for hacking and infiltration. Throughout Halo 1&2 she helps the Chief out a lot whether hacking into the Covenant Battle Net and intercepting Covenant communications or downloading schematics. During Halo and Halo 2 Cortana spends most of her time inside the Master Chief's Command Neural Interface or CNI transponder slot located in the side of the Chief's helmet. Cortana stopped the Master Chief from activating Halo after 343 Guilty Spark tried to trick him into activating it.

Capt. Jacob Keyes: His military career spans over 26 years. Captain Keyes commands respect as a keen strategist and inspirational leader of his men. He became a minor hero early in his career when he led a small group of security troops against a Covenant ambush of the colony ship Meriwether Lewis and held them off long enough for the ship to escape. His many decorations and years of combat experience against the Covenant mad him a natural choice to command the Pillar of Autumn and its secret cargo.

Captain Keyes was picked early in his career to help Dr. Catherine Halsey with her task of searching for able subjects for her SPARTAN-II project. Though after this task was complete, he went back to normal duty and became an excellent strategist when dealing with Covenant. He outwitted and destroyed a handful of Covenant Cruisers with a daring maneuver called the Keyes Loop. The Keyes Loop is a maneuver first enacted by Captain Jacob Keyes during the Battle of Sigma Octanus. He allowed a Covenant ship to fire at his ship, then did a loop around back at the attacking ship, allowing the plasma to track him. He then maneuvered out of the way at the last possible second, firing his MAC gun and drawing the plasma into the attacking ship, destroying it.

Unfortunately, Keyes was killed during the events on Halo. Spartan-117 killed him after he had been absorbed by the Flood. His CNI enabled Spartan-117 and Cortana to start up the Pillar of Autumn's engines so they could destroy Halo by overloading them. His surviving daughter, Miranda Keyes, accepted a posthumous medal awarded to him for his bravery during the events on Halo.

Miranda Keyes: Miranda Keyes is the daughter of the late Captain Jacob Keyes and holds the rank of Captain for the UNSC Frigate In Amber Clad. She accepted a medal for her father aboard the Cairo Defense Platform in 2552. Minutes later, she was defending the Cairo and Earth after the Prophet of Regret's personal fleet attacked. She helped the Chief get to Earth and then followed Regret's Assault Carrier to Delta Halo. There she led the UNSC forces in search of Delta Halo's Library to stop the Covenant from activating the ring, but was captured by Tartarus, the Brute Chieftain. Once the Arbiter and Sgt. Johnson arrived at the Control Room, Tartarus used Keyes to activate the ring's firing sequence, but Keyes was able to stop it seconds before it fired.

Dr. Catherine Halsey: As the "mother" of Cortana (and also Cortana's image), the SPARTAN II's, and project MJOLNIR, Dr. Halsey (civilian ID #10141-026-SRB4695) is quite possibly the author of Humanity's only true chance at halting the Covenant's campaign of genocide and pillage. Although a civilian, her work for ONI and dedication to the survival of a unified Human government and its people have earned her the highest security clearance available for non-military personnel, a restriction that has been stretched and broken innumerable times. A growing respect and budget have also ensued, much to the embarrassment and frustration of her rivals, namely Colonel Ackerson and his own mysterious special weapons program. Her motivations have always been pure; to protect Humanity from forces both without and within. However, focusing on the necessity and positive yields of her operations, Dr. Halsey had reluctantly bought into ONI's concept of "acceptable losses", always for the greater good and preservation of the species. Her pride and and satisfaction have always been coupled with a deep remorse for those she has sacrificed along the way; a remorse she had told herself she should not entertain. And so she has repented, and is now taking steps (known only to herself) to save not only the many, but the few. How her kidnapping of Kelly-087, with her anomalous DNA, and sudden departure in an ONI stealth prowler will accomplish this is yet to be seen.
